When answering these questions please try to think of them in the big cities like LA, NYC, Chicago . Etc . What is the average salary for investment banking? New York, but the cost of living is high. I hear Chicago is a nice alternative.

100-120/week. Do the math with pay and hours and it isn't as high as most people believe.

Base pay is the salary. Bonuses come toward the end of the year.

Ever worked 100-120/week? The turnover rate is high if that tells you anything.

Depends what division they work in. There is a front office, middle office, and back office. Very different roles depending on what division within those offices.

You can start your own firm whenever. You won't have the relationships and reputation, though.

That is not a job title where you simply find the right job at the right place. A example is a lawyer, you can't expect a fixed salary on an attorney position. Some may only close real estate, while others may win multi million dollar law suits. It also would depend greatly where the Bachelor's degree is from. As long as Harvard puts out Investment Bankers, don't expect a call back from the cover letter and resume.
