Cape Hatteras/Outer Banks, NC?

I want to go here over the summer but will only have 2 or 3 days. Does anyone know if its realistic to drive from Baltimore, Md to the Outer Banks with such a little amount of time? Also, suggestions on which place on the islands is the best?

Sure-- I've done it a couple times. Expect about a seven hour drive. We stayed in Nags Head which is about 45 minutes north of Hatteras. Probably more to do in Nags Head and Kitty Hawk than Hatteras but you're still in driving distance. Can't remember the name of the place we stayed but it was right on the beach.

Nothing against you coming here :) but it does get crowded in the summer and we (live in Raleigh 3 hour away) don't go there for less than 3 days because of the drive and crowds. It is beautiful but not all that fantastic... most of the restaraunts are laim (black pelican is the best I've seen - and is VERY good). The aquarium is like any other. Personally haven't been to the wright Brothers, but drove by... Haven't seen anything that would make me tell my friends that they 'should go' there... some good camping out by Hatteras light.

I would think you'd want to go to the beach closer to home...

I have driven down for the day from Richmond... a four hour drive, but I like to kiteboard. I think it depends on what you want to do. When the wind isn't blowing I can be a touch bored but I don't like to lay on the beach either.
